WarmlyYours Intros Radiant Heating for Showers

WarmlyYours has launched low voltage radiant heating that is safer for use in the shower. Imagine how good it could feel to slide out of your warm bed and into an equally warm and inviting shower? Perhaps that is what we were thinking about when we developed our newest item! Our low voltage system works especially well for larger, luxurious showers with a European curbless design. Offered in several sizes, the 24 volt warming rolls and companion transformers are available to accommodate your shower application. Simple to install over a waterproof membrane, this system is designed to warm shower floors, tub surrounds, steam showers and saunas.

24 Volt TempZone Warming Roll

TempZone™ floor warming systems are engineered with an insulated copper alloy resistance warming cable sewn to a fiberglass mesh backing. The warming cable is evenly spaced in 2″ serpentine loops and provides 25% more heating capacity than competitive products. Measuring less than 1/8″ thick, the mesh system installs easily under tile and stone and is offered in a variety of lengths to accommodate your project requirements. TempZone™ is listed by Underwriters Laboratories to US and Canadian standards and is covered by our 10 year, NoNonsense™ Warranty.

24 Volt Transformer

The first and only transformer specifically designed and UL listed to be mounted in any of the 6 available positions. This step-down transformer is required for operation of the 24 volt floor warming system and is offered in a range of sizes to meet your project specifications.

Programmable Thermostat

The Energy Star Rated SmartStat™ thermostat has an in-floor sensor which provides accurate temperature control. The programmable function gives you the option of 4 programmable events for each day of the week, allowing you to pre-heat your shower so that it’s warm and inviting any time of the day. It also features a manual set-back to a “high” or “low” temperature level. It also comes equipped with a built-in GFCI and a 2-year manufacturer’s warranty.

Floor Transitions, Reducers, Thresholds For Tile, Harwood, Vinyl, Concrete Staining

Home

Floor transitions, reducers, thresholds at doorways have been a concern of mine after I graduated from college. College went well...but here I am discussing the importance of proper transition placement.
Nothing irks me more when I walk on to a job and notice a transition on the wrong side of the door, not lined up straight and/or the height of the two different materials do not match up.
A perfect transition is one that is the same height, is directly under the swinging part of the door and is lined up square under the door. It is the little details that make or break the final product of the job.

Statements Distinctive Tile & Stone

Honesty seems to be difficult thing to impress on clients these days. Our world has been turned upside down and backwards with wall street bailouts, CEO parties and bonuses, and record profits for big oil companies. As a business owner I have to sell myself, my product and the customer has to trust me.
With that in mind, Today I had the pleasure of speaking with Ryan Calkins the president of Statements Distinctive Tile & Stone.
Having never met Ryan in person, he immediately impressed me with his product line, the immense amount of tips, products, bios and much more found at www.ciaotile.com,
and his trustworthiness over the phone.
I plan to visit their showroom in Seattle's very own Georgetown where I know I will find modern, contemporary, avant guard selection of tiles and more luxury classics like Jeffrey Court Ceramic Tile.
These product lines will be nothing like you have seen before...especially if you are shopping for tiles at large depot style stores where the quality suffers and is seconds at best.
Trust is a hard thing to come by these days soooooo designers, customers, installers, industry leaders do your homework. Get to know suppliers, manufacturers and start a good healthy trustworthy relationship from the get go. Our ultimate goal is to provide our customers with the best of everything and in turn our reward is a lifelong customer.

Designers Choice Products Found at Ecohaus In Seattle

When I asked one of my favorite designers, at Space A Design Collective in Seattle, Emily Lauderback where she shops for some of her products she mentioned Ecohaus. Being in the trade of flooring I did not have a clue as to what store she was talking about. So I decided to check it out.

Here is what I thought. A store that has all the major products to give your home a face lift...with a eco-friendly touch. Tiles, Flooring, Hardware, Cabinents, Countertops the works. Keep in mind that most all eco friendly products will be more costly than non eco friendly products...this topic could be reserved for its own blog. Think of it as an investment in the earth.

If browsing is your thing you will not have a problem here...lots of space to ponder your renovation dreams and products to boot.

SUBFLOOR PREPARATION VCT, VINYL,LINOLEUM, ALL RESILIENT FLOORS

Sub floor preparation is key to having long lasting resilient floors in your home. It is almost more important than the material you chose. For existing homes new 1/4 in plywood screwed or stapled down provides a perfect surface for resilient floor coverings. Trowel down Ardex Feather Finish over the seams and staple holes and let the cementitious material dry. Sand down the Ardex to a smooth finish, re coat if necessary. Now you are ready for flooring material.

This Mannington Luxury Adura Vinyl floor turned out flawless using the described techniques above. The floors resemble costly marble floor at the fraction of the cost. Highly recommended for any area of your home.

How Much Does Acid Staining Cost? Residental and Commercial

There is nothing that looks quite like acid staining a floor. It has a marbled mottled look that does not compare to any product made in the marketplace. Each floor is unique in that the water and the acid's metallic salts chemically reacts with concrete's calcium hydroxide leaving behind an insoluble color etched into the floor....permanently.

There are a myriad of colors to chose from and various manufactuors of these stains. Floric Polytech is a great manufacturer and offers a wide variety of colors, sealers, epoxies, and other decorative concrete products.

The price of a basic acid stain in the Seattle metropolitian both commercially and residentially is $3-5 a sq. ft. This cost is much cheaper than most traditional floors like VCT, Ceramic Tile and other resilient floors. Not only in some of the upfront costs of materials but also that of longterm maintenance. If you happen to be on the more creative side of the spectrum and chose to use more colors, need decorative saw cuts, floor preparation (ie hand grinding or diamond grinding) you could be looking at $15 sq. ft.

The typical DIY'er could do it themselves, but it is best left to the professionals. When hiring a contractor be sure to have a look a their jobs either in person or picture. There is an old adage that says," You pay for what you get". Be sure to hire a professional with experience for the best quality of work. The next thing to do would be to show and tell friends, family and neighboors about your new fabulous floors.

Marmoleum is an excellent product to use in baths.
With naturally inherent anti-bactericidal and anti-static properties, Marmoleum it is a great choice for the bath.

This floor was installed over existing vinyl that was skimcoated with Ardex Feather Finish to fill in imperfections. It was then sanded and ready for the new Marmoleum made at Forbo. The color of the product is lava and the decorative lines in the floor are a natural grey. The lines are accomplish by using a technique called heat welding, which basically melts a rod of glue into a groove then it is planed of to the height of the marmoleum.
